Going Strong - Fashionable Elderly Cyclists

Going Strong
We often hear the expression "Still going strong..." about older citizens. As though it's quite unusual and amazing. But really, shouldn't it just be "Going strong." Period. And, in the case of these two photos, Going strong in style.

Me too. I admit to having reached geezer status but I'm not elderly yet. Not as long as I can still ride.

Riding a bike is a wise choice as cycling costs less energy than walking. The only limiting factors are balance, eyesight and hearing. And two of these can easily be helped.

Fantastic. Hope I'm still cycling when I'm their age.

The flatter the bell curve for the age distribution of vehicular cyclists, the better. It should look like one of the Dutch Alps, not like the Matterhorn. The more you see at both ends of the curve, the healthier the society (both individually and as a social whole).

And I might add, on a second dimension, viewed from above, it should not be split with a big cliff in the middle falling from the male side to the female side. Again, Dutch Alps, not Matterhorn.

My grandparents just to talk about the "poor old dears" who lived across the road. The "poor old dears" were in their late seventies, whereas my grandparents were in their early nineties ;-)
