Probably the Shortest Winter in the World

Grace in Winter
It's unnatural for your typical Copenhagener to dwell on the winter months. By ignoring them, we try to make them shorter. Our memory banks are filled with memories and sensations of things that happen to us between April and October. This is the emotional Nordic prime time. We refuse to acknowledge that winter exists and just pretend it isn't there.
Snowstorm Couple
Pleasant conversations with friends and loved ones remain, despite the biting ice flakes. Lalalala... summertime is around the corner.
Snowstorm Promenade
Just pretend that you're promenading along The Lakes at 6 in the morning in the neverending light of a summer evening after a night out on the town. Lalalala... the temperature is 30 degrees.
Snowstorm Upright
Lalalala... there's no storm-strength headwind carrying icy shards of frozen snow... just sit up straight and feel the summer wind caress your face.... lalalala.

Can you see the Pyramids from Copenhagen? Because you certainly seem to be in De Nile.

Yeah, I know. Sorry.

Not to be contrary, but reading Kierkegaard, Ibsen, and watching Bergman films certainly doesn't give this American the feeling that Nordic people ignore winter. It would appear that winter is in their soul (perhaps those I cited are aberrations?) Keep on biking!

Haha! Here it's not really winter anymore, but still we love to look forward to the coming spring! (even though it can still snow in April) Who said winter? The flowers are blooming and on the radio are jumpy songs. Lalala!

Good point, Robbo. The winters have been great for literature and philosophy and the melancholy writing process. Nothing else to do in the winter months back then. Apart from playing with yourself [Ibsen was obsessed with his dick] and visiting prostitutes [Kierkegaard's vice after ditching Regine for his writing]

For the rest of us, we just want it to be done so we can revel in the Nordic spring and summer.

meanwhile, in australia, we're pedalling around going "It's not really this hot, it's not really this hot".
