The Everpresent Danish Bike Culture

We've waffled on about it before. About how it's not just us who attempt to gather a portrait of Danish and Copenhagen bike culture.

It's so completely ingrained in the Danish mentality that "girls on bikes" are featured regularly in advertising and art in this nation.

The artwork above is a recent - albeit retro style - advert for a popular yoghurt brand - A38. The text reads "the art of living healthy". And what better motive to use than healthy Danish girls on bikes.

Note: With regards to our use of the word "girls", it is common in Danish to use the word 'girls' to describe the female sex in many contexts. Therefore we chose girls as opposed to women - which seems to be a politically correct way to describe it in overseas cultures... but not ours.
