Bikescalator

Bikescalator, originally uploaded by [Zakkaliciousness].

Even though train and metro stations are well-equipped with elevators for the thousands of bikes on the public transport system, sometimes you just say "to hell with it" and slap your bike on the escalator to rise to street level.

It takes a bit of effort, but a little bit of hard work never hurt anyone.

They'd never let you do this in the US... with or without a helmet!

that is a sweet shot

yes...

you would get a U-lock to the head if you chased women around with the camera in DC

you must be stealth

I love taking pictures of strangers
but I always try to be respectful

I hate having to ask... so many people say no
especially women
so sometimes I snap the shot without asking

all the while trying to be respectful

Thanks for the comments.
We don't legislate helmet use here. Too much respect for personal choice and freedom. If you legislate helmets, then you might as well legislate inflatable suits for every citizen, in my opinion. :-)

Stealth is, I suppose, one way to describe it. But it's just street photography, after all. And after a lot of the press we've had, I have been contacted by some of these street photography subjects and they have asked for copies of the photos. Which is nice.

that is cool that the subjects like the photographs

I had an incident where I took a woman's photograph
then I tried to tell her about my blog
she made a face
then the next day she check out my blog and gave it a stamp of approval

I love the photos!

definitely print worthy!
