Vélib - The Movie

What better way to wrap up Semaine du Vélib' here on Copenhagen Cycle Chic than with a little video tribute.

The music I used is courtesy a friend of mine, Jason McNiff. The song is called 'Bella Ciao' and it's from his latest album 'In My Time', which is available on Amazon.co.uk
He used one of my photos from New York for his album cover:
My First Album Cover
Which is lovely, of course. My son and I run around the house singing Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao Ciao Ciao! :-)

I love that it's an Englishman singing an Italian song in a Danish film about the French capital. Vive l'Europe... :-)

What could be better than Paris, than Paris on a bicycle - perfection. The movie went very well with my Friday morning coffee - what a great way to end the week. Thank you!

the song you can hear in this video is the song of the Italians fighting against the nazism in 1945. "partigiano" is the civil soldier. now the song is a song of fredom.... like bicycle

indeed, francesco. the song is orginally a work song of the rice pickers in northern Italy, but it is mostly associated with the anti-fascist movement.

Very nice. I was surprised to see what looks like the same statue of Jean d' Arc that we have here in New Orleans. Since the original was a gift of France, I wonder if they are identical.

Fun video. I am a little embarassed by how much I love your website and the ideas expressed in it, and end up telling everyone about it. "Seriously, it's just pictures of girls on bikes. No... they're wearing clothes. It's not pr0n!"

Still, I don't approve of putting stickers on the bikes in Paris. < / curmudgeon>

my wife and i took the stickers off when we were done with the bikes.

but there's heaps of stickers elsewhere in the city... :-)

I read a lot about Vélib but not impressed. Your little movie is better than official advertising. Thanks a lot! Now i have to go to Paris to try it. Another two thousand dollars to spend... Thanks again
